A Microsoft offering that enables tracking of cloud usage and expenditures for Azure and other cloud providers.
Upgrading on November 1 preserves the unused free-trial credit through November 30, 2026, but complete the billing-account and transfer checks below before moving the subscription because the available documentation does not confirm that free-trial promotional credit follows a Pay-As-You-Go subscription to a different business billing account.
Promotional credit status
Because the free account was created and upgraded on November 1, 2026:
- The unused portion of the original $200 credit remains available after the upgrade.
- It remains valid for the original 30-day period—through November 30, 2026—and any unused amount is then lost.
- The 12-month free-service benefit remains available after upgrading, subject to each service’s limits. ^1^ ^2^
The exact remaining balance cannot be determined from the subscription information in this question; it requires access to the billing account.
- In the Azure portal, open Cost Management + Billing.
- Select Switch scope if it appears, then inspect each available billing scope. The portal remembers the last scope used, so the credit may be under the original personal billing scope rather than the LLC scope. ^3^
- Open Properties and record the billing account type.
- If the scope is a Microsoft Customer Agreement, open its billing profile and check the credit balance there. Viewing it requires an owner, contributor, reader, or invoice manager role on the billing profile, or an owner, contributor, or reader role on the billing account. New credit can take up to 24 hours to appear. ^4^
That MCA balance page applies to credits assigned to an MCA billing profile; it should not be assumed to prove that the original free-trial promotion was transferred.
Resolve the pending transfer
First identify whether the LLC destination is an MOSP/Pay-As-You-Go account or a Microsoft Customer Agreement under Cost Management + Billing → Properties → Type. ^5^
If the LLC destination is Microsoft Customer Agreement
Initiate the request from the destination business billing account, rather than reusing the current acceptance link:
- Open Cost Management + Billing.
- Switch to the LLC’s Microsoft Customer Agreement billing scope.
- Select Billing profiles → destination profile.
- Select Invoice sections → destination invoice section.
- Select Transfer requests → Add a new request.
- Enter the email address of the current subscription’s billing owner and send the request.
- Sign in as that exact recipient, open Review the request, select the subscription, and approve it.
The destination requester must be an owner or contributor on the relevant billing account, billing profile, or invoice section. The current MOSP owner accepting the request must be the subscription’s Account Administrator. ^6^
If the LLC destination is another MOSP/Pay-As-You-Go account
Cancel the currently stuck request, then send a new one to the LLC account’s actual billing administrator:
- Open Subscriptions → select the subscription.
- Select Transfer billing ownership.
- At the bottom, select Cancel the transfer request.
- Return to Transfer billing ownership, enter the LLC billing administrator’s sign-in address, and send a new request.
- The recipient must open the link while signed in as that exact account and select a payment method.
Only one request can be active, and an MOSP transfer request expires after 15 days. Only the account administrator can initiate this transfer. ^7^
The message “You already own billing for this subscription” alone does not establish whether the transfer completed, the invitation was opened under the source identity, or both identities resolve to the same billing owner. Check:
- Subscriptions → subscription → Settings → Billing properties → Account Admin
- Cost Management + Billing → Billing scopes
These locations identify the current billing administrator and the accounts for which the signed-in identity has billing authority. ^8^
Before completing the transfer
Do not assume that the remaining free-trial credit will move to the LLC billing account. Azure documents that billing responsibility and future charges move to the destination account, but it does not explicitly guarantee portability of free-account promotional credit in this Pay-As-You-Go scenario. Charges after transfer appear on the new account’s invoice; earlier charges remain with the previous account. ^9^
Before approving the replacement request, create an Azure Billing support request and provide:
- Subscription ID
- Transfer request ID
- Source and destination billing-account types
- Screenshot of the “already own billing” message
- November 1, 2026 signup and upgrade timestamps
- Request to confirm the exact remaining promotional balance, November 30 expiration, and whether that balance will survive this specific transfer
Azure’s transfer documentation directs unresolved transfer and billing questions to a support request. ^7^
