How can I receive my old skype chats?

Yes. There are two supported ways to get old Skype chats and related data:

1. Sign in to Microsoft Teams Free with the same Skype credentials
   • On a supported device, sign in to Microsoft Teams Free using the same Skype account.
   • Your contacts and chats are transferred automatically.
   • A notification in Skype may also prompt migration.
2. Export Skype data manually
   • Go to the Skype Export Portal and sign in with the Microsoft account used for Skype.
   • Select Conversations, Files, or both.
   • Select Submit request, then Continue.
   • Return to the export page later and check Available Exports.
   • When the export is ready, select Download.

What is included in the export:

• Messages: Skype and SMS messages, polls, scheduled calls, swift cards, and location shares.
• Media: files, pictures, videos, video messages, voice mail, and call recordings.

Important details:

• The export timeframe has been extended until June 2026.
• Downloaded data comes as a .tar file.
• On Windows 10 or Windows 11, extract it by opening Run with Windows + R, typing cmd, navigating to the folder with CD, and then running: tar -xvfYOURFILENAME_export.tar
• After extraction, the chat history is in messages.json.

If the goal is specifically to recover old calls, the export includes call recordings if they exist. The context does not show a separate method to restore a full call history into Skype.
