when i tried signing into my minecraft account, it tells me to use windows hello with my account, and when i press ok, it makes me sign into "[moderator's note: PII removed]@outlook.com" instead of my email which is "[moderator's note: PII removed]@gmail.com", and when i click to go back, it completely closes the sign in window, disallowing me from logging into my microsoft account. and now it says that my microsoft account just doesnt exist, so im wondering if ive just lost money and my minecraft account or i can still retrieve my old microsoft account that seems to have been deleted

    Hi Jia Le Leong,

I understand why this is worrying, especially when Minecraft is tied to a purchase and Windows Hello keeps selecting an account you did not intend to use.

The Outlook address shown by Windows Hello may simply be another Microsoft account already saved on the computer. Its appearance does not confirm that it owns your Minecraft license, and it does not necessarily mean that the Microsoft account created with your Gmail address has been deleted.

Before changing anything in Minecraft, please try signing in to your Microsoft account from a private browser window using the Gmail address. If Microsoft still says that the account does not exist, use the Microsoft account Sign-in Helper with that address.

If the Gmail account works in the browser, check which accounts are currently signed in under Windows Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts, the Microsoft Store, the Xbox app, and the Minecraft Launcher. Sign out of the unrelated Outlook account where possible, then sign back in using the same Microsoft account that originally purchased or redeemed Minecraft.

Please also check your old purchase confirmation or Microsoft order history, as this may help identify which account actually owns the game. Avoid purchasing Minecraft again until the original account and purchase record have been confirmed.

If the Gmail address continues to be reported as nonexistent, contact Microsoft Support and explain that a previously working Microsoft account username is no longer recognized. For questions about the Minecraft purchase or game entitlement after the account has been identified, you can also contact Minecraft Support.

Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so I cannot access account records, restore an account, or move a Minecraft license between accounts from here. However, the unexpected Outlook account and the unavailable Gmail account should be treated as two separate checks before concluding that the game has been lost. Thank you so much for your understanding.

If the sign-in now shows an Outlook address that is not the expected Gmail address, and the original Microsoft account now returns “account doesn’t exist,” the supported recovery path is:

    1. Run the Microsoft account Sign-in helper.
      • Enter the email address or phone number normally used for the Microsoft account.
      • If the tool detects an account problem, it will provide the next steps.
    2. If the username or password stopped working, use Recover your account:
      • Go to Recover your account
      • Enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name used to sign in.
      • Choose where to receive the security code.
      • Enter the code, then set a new password.
    3. If the account is reported as not found:
      • Verify the email domain carefully, because Microsoft accounts can use different domains such as .com and country variants.
      • If another alias or phone number was added to the account, try that instead.
      • If the error still says “We couldn't find an account with that username,” contact support through the provided support option and report that the username has stopped working.
    4. If the account has not been signed in to for more than two years, it may have been deleted and cannot be reopened.
    5. For the Minecraft entitlement itself, account-specific Minecraft issues are handled by Minecraft Support.

Important: Microsoft support agents cannot send password reset links or change account details directly.
