    Hi Duncan,

After the subscription is canceled, a notification shows that the cancellation is complete.

For further confirmation whether your Azure subscription cancellation was processed, please sign in to the Azure portal, navigate to Subscriptions, and check the subscription status. If the subscription no longer shows Active and instead shows a status such as Expired, the cancellation has been processed. Please note that Azure may take up to 72 hours to finalize billing and generate any final invoice after a subscription is canceled.

If you have any outstanding credits that aren't yet applied to your invoice, the estimated credits that apply to your invoice are shown.

The following example shows that credits were applied and pending estimated charges. In this example, the final bill is estimated at USD 50.50 and two cancelled subscriptions.Screenshot showing that subscription cancellation status.

    You can also check:

    • Cost Management + Billing > Subscriptions
    • Cost Management + Billing > Invoices

Additionally, you can find the Delete subscription option available 3 days after you cancel your subscription for customer led subscriptions or 7 days for field and partner channel subscriptions in the Subscriptions page.Screenshot of 3 days delay for deleting subscriptions.

    Use these checks:

    1. In the Azure portal, go to Cost Management + Billing > Subscriptions or Azure subscriptions.
    2. Select the subscription.
    3. If cancellation completed, a notification is shown that the cancellation is complete.
    4. Billing stops immediately after cancellation.
    5. It can take up to 10 minutes for the cancellation status to appear in the portal.
    6. After cancellation, services are disabled. For example:
      • virtual machines are deallocated
      • temporary IP addresses are freed
      • storage becomes read-only
    7. A final invoice is sent on the normal invoice date after the current billing period ends.

If the Delete subscription option later appears, that is another confirmation that the subscription was already canceled. That option becomes available 3 days after cancellation for customer-led subscriptions.
