Xbox Android app shows "Your content safety settings block this" on mature game media — account settings verified fully open (works on PC app and web)

On the Xbox app for Android, viewing screenshots/trailers for Mature-rated games (e.g. Cyberpunk 2077, rated MATURE 17+) shows "Your content safety settings block this" over every media tile. The content never loads.

Why this is an Android-app client bug, not an account setting:

  • Same account, Xbox app on PC: mature media loads fine.
  • Same account, xbox.com in a browser: mature media loads fine (all 22 gallery items on the Cyberpunk 2077 page).
  • Only the Xbox Android app blocks. The servers return "allowed" — the Android client mis-evaluates it.

Everything already ruled out:

  • Xbox privacy settings (Privacy & online safety page): every content-related toggle is at maximum openness — "You can see and upload community creations" = Everyone, message media filters = Unfiltered, sharing/multiplayer = Allow.
  • Microsoft Family Safety: the account is a Family organizer (adult). Organizers have no content-filter UI — no filters apply to them.
  • Account age/region: adult, United States.
  • App state: signed out and back in, cleared cache, full Clear data / fresh reinstall from the Play Store with a fresh sign-in — the block persists.
  • Backend re-sync: toggled "You can see and upload community creations" to Block, saved, then back to Everybody and saved — no change.
  • Other adults have reported the identical symptom (r/XboxSupport, July 2026).

Expected: mature store media displays, as it does on the PC app and the website for the same account.

Actual: the Android app overlays "Your content safety settings block this" on all mature media tiles.
