Ghost child loop issue

Accidentally change the DOB of the account to child account:

After that change:

You could not edit the profile DOB anymore.

You could not see the account inside the Microsoft Family group.

The account no longer appeared under “My Family,” even though Microsoft still treated it as a child account.

You tried the normal steps to fix it, but the account never reappeared in the family group.

You asked how to email Microsoft support to correct the DOB because the normal self‑service options were blocked.

This is exactly the scenario where the account becomes stuck in a “ghost family group” — meaning:

The account is flagged as a child,

But it is not visible in any family group,

And therefore no adult account can give consent or fix the DOB.

This is why the DOB page never loads and why the account cannot be restored to adult status.

A child account is stuck

Consent cannot be completed

The account is invisible in the family group

The DOB cannot be edited

The system throws the “Something went wrong — it’s us, not you” error

This is the exact scenario the Age Correction team handles.

They manually:

Remove the child flag

Remove ghost family membership

Reset the DOB lock

Restore the account to adult status

Re-enable Family Organizer permissions

This is the only path that works now.

HOW DO I GET THIS RESOLVED ???

    Hello,

    1. Connect your device to another Wi-Fi network, such as a mobile hotspot network.
    2. Then, open a private browsing tab/ incognito tab and sign in with your Microsoft account (Child account) using the link below.

    https://account.microsoft.com/family/home

    • May I please know if you are experiencing the same error shown in the attached screenshot?

If you can sign in successfully on the Family safety website in a private window,

    • Open another private window and sign in with your adult account using the same link above.
    • Invite the Child account to the adult Family Safety group through email or via link.
    • Accept the invite through the Child account.
    • Once accepted, the adult should edit the D.O.B in the Child account and remove them from the family group.

If you are getting an error, try signing in on the Family Safety website with your child's account after 24 Hours. Repeated sign-in attempts may temporarily block your account.
