New Outlook will not sync with one of my gmail addresses

New Outlook has suddenly stopped syncing with one of my gmail accounts. It still works with the other two just fine.

I've tried deleting the account, removing Microsoft app access from the gmail account and signing back in and I keep getting an error: "INVALIDCREDENTIALS TEMPORARILYUNAVAILABLE"}

Any idea why Outlook is doing this? It's totally worthless if I cannot access all my gmail accounts in it.

Gmail accounts... one all of a sudden was blocked about a week ago ... started working ... blocked again and still is.

There is an ongoing service problem with GMail accounts in New Outlook for Windows. There is nothing you can go from your end to fix it.

All I can suggest at this point is that you submit a Problem Report. Every Report moves this issue just a bit higher on the Microsoft Fixit List. That's all any of us can do for now.

    Hi Liza,

Nice to hear your Gmail is fine. Now we can focus on your Outlook. Now you can try do reset on the app.

    1. Close New Outlook.
    2. Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
    3. Find Outlook for Windows > Advanced options.
    4. Select Reset. This resets the app's local data, so you'll need to sign in to your accounts again.
    5. Open New Outlook and add the affected Gmail account again.

I hope this time it'll solve the issue.

    Regards,
    Jhun

    Hi Lisa,

If those Google oauth credentials aren't showing at all, then it's likely already gone. Don't keep removing things from Credential Manager.

The next thing we can check is the affected Gmail account:

    1. Sign in to that Gmail account in your browser.
    2. Go to Gmail > Settings > See all settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
    3. If you see IMAP access, make sure IMAP is enabled.
    4. Also check Google Account > Security > Your connections to third-party apps & services and make sure Microsoft apps & services is allowed.

Microsoft specifically recommends checking the Gmail-IMAP settings when Outlook can't connect to a Google account.

For checking purpose only, try to add that Gmail address to Classic Outlook on the same PC. If the address works on Classic but still fails in New Outlook, this means the problem points to the New Outlook-Microsoft Cloud sync issue rather than the Gmail account itself.

    Regards,
    Jhun

    Hi Lisa J,

Good day. This error usually points to the issue with the saved Google sign-in token for that particular Gmail account. Since your other Gmail accounts still work, it's less likely to be a general Outlook problem. You already tried removing the account and Microsoft app access, so this time let's try clearing the old Google credentials from Windows:

    1. Close New Outlook completely.
    2. On your Windows, search for Credential Manager and open it.
    3. Select Windows Credentials > Generic Credentials.
    4. Look for entries starting with MicrosoftOffice16_Data that reference tp_google_imap_Oauth2.
    5. Remove the entries belonging to the affected Gmail account. Microsoft notes that there can be two credentials for each Gmail account, so make sure both are removed.
    6. Open New Outlook and add the Gmail account again. When Google asks for permission, select Allow.

By the way, don't remove the credentials for your other two Gmail accounts if they're working fine.

Microsoft has documented this type of OAuth credential issue with Gmail and recommends clearing the affected Google credentials before signing in again.

If it still gives INVALIDCREDENTIALS TEMPORARILYUNAVAILABLE after this, you check the Gmail account's IMAP access and Google security settings next rather than repeatedly removing and adding the account.

    Update me once nothing works.

    Regards,
    Jhun
