I am trying to set up multiplayer for my child’s Xbox account. I have watched many videos and read instructions on how this needs to be done but it is not working. I have changed all the settings to allow multiplayer but when the game is started the option for multiplayer is greyed out.

Please help!

    Hey there, Brett Griffin

Please can you answer the following questions:

    1. Have you managed the multiplayer settings on the Xbox Account page here: https://account.xbox.com/settings ?
    2. Is the account set up as a child account?
      1. If so, have you added them to Microsoft family?
    3. Is this a particular game that is not working for multiplayer?
    4. What platform are you playing on?

    Thanks,
    Nathan

To allow your child to play multiplayer on Xbox, ensure that the following steps are followed:

    1. Check Privilege Settings: Make sure that the multiplayer privilege is set to "Allowed" for your child’s account. If the privilege is blocked, the game will not allow access to multiplayer features.
    2. Parental Permission: If the multiplayer privilege is set to allowed, ensure that any necessary parental permissions have been granted. You may need to approve the multiplayer access through the parental permission UI.
    3. Restart the Console: After changing the privilege settings, restart the Xbox console to ensure that the changes take effect.
    4. Sign In with the Correct Account: Ensure that your child is signed into their account when launching the game. Sometimes, if the wrong account is signed in, the settings may not apply correctly.
    5. Check for Updates: Make sure that both the Xbox console and the game are updated to the latest version, as updates can sometimes resolve issues with account settings.

If you have followed all these steps and the multiplayer option is still greyed out, it may be necessary to check if there are any specific game restrictions or settings that could be affecting access to multiplayer features.
