Not able to add my account to Microsoft Authenticator

Need help on adding account to Microsoft Authenticator please.

I'm trying to enable FaceID on my notebook. Microsoft Authenticator approval is required.

However, I'm not able to add my account to the Microsoft Authenticator.

I can login using my email and password. But then the APP asked for codes, which should be generated from the APP. If I click "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now" link at the bottom, it'll just jump to the previous page which is "Approve a request on my Microsoft Authenticator app".

It's a dead loop.

Somehow I can't upload the screenshots from my mobile phone. Also sorry that I am not able to select the right products from the dropdown list. Microsoft Authenticator app is not on there.

>>Would it work to ask the administrator to disable my 2FA, and enable it back?

Is this a Work or School account? Awesome - I assumed that you were talking about a personal MSA, haha. This explains why you can't get a code via SMS either.

Please reach out to the admin to reset your two-factor authentication (2FA), which will allow you to reconfigure it. In the future, make sure to back up your configuration to the cloud to prevent this issue from happening again. :)

I see. Maybe that's why I couldn't see it on the restore list.

I think I did add my phone number to the account, Where can I check this?

Thank you, Carl. I think you did not back up to the Cloud service - makes it a bit challenging to move further.

Have you added a phone number to the account?

Thank you Sumit for the instant response!

Yes I tried it. However my account does not show up from the Restore function. Afterall I could not add it to the MS Authenticator APP.

Same thing happened again, had to add new account -> email keyed -> password verified -> asking for Authenticator code again..

    Hi Carl.

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

Yes, Microsoft Authenticator isn't supported here at the community - but I think my expertise would help you :)

First thing - you configured Microsoft Authenticator on your Phone first and then uninstalled it. Now you are trying to reconfigure it again. Is that correct?

    >> If I click "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now"

This message will only appear when the MS Authenticator is already configured for your account.

If so, consider uninstalling Authenticator and reinstall it. On the first screen, choose Restore in order to restore your 2FA account and get a code from that.

I look forward to your response and am eager to collaborate until we find a solution.
