There is no BitLocker Keys associated with my device. how will I restore my drive?

Ive been using my laptop for at least 4 years. Then, I opened it one morning at school with a blue screen requiring to enter BItLocker key. What is this and how it happened. Im not that technical in pc repair and my files for years just became inaccessible.

I together with our IT personnel managed to access the Microsoft Account with my laptop device on it, but when View BitLocker Keys was clicked, it says "No Bitlocker recovery keys found on this device". How is this possible? If it was encrypted by Microsoft and the microsoft account has been access already, why is there no bitlocker key found?

How will this be resolved?

If your drive is encrypted with Bitlocker, the only place the Bitlocker Recovery key is automatically stored is on the associated Microsoft account on the link below, be sure to check any Microsoft account that may have been used on the PC and also any work or school account that may be linked to the PC.

(Note, even if your device does not show on the Microsoft account, the Bitlocker Recovery Key may still be available on this link)

Are you able to find the Bitlocker Recovery Key on any account that may have been used or linked to the laptop?

If not, do you have a safe backup of your files, or use a cloud service like OneDrive to sync your files online.

Thank u for your reply. Yes after trying so many ways, the only way is to locate the BitLocker recovery key. Luckily, we found a match from an old account and it did unlock my drive. Im just thinking on how other peeps out there who are not so technical and just let someone installed the OS and have his ms account store the BitLocker recovery key, how will they recover their files in case same situation as mine happen to them if the only way is to have access to that ms account.

Lessons learned is to always update local backup or sync online.
