A professional diagramming tool that helps users visualize complex information through easy-to-understand diagrams.
Dear @Jade,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
According to your description, I understand that you want to create a cross‑functional flowchart without unnecessary elements, specifically removing the Phase header
In this case, when you create a Cross‑Functional Flowchart in Visio for Windows, the template automatically includes two horizontal swimlanes along with a Title Bar and a Phase Bar at the top of the diagram. This is expected behavior and part of the built‑in diagram structure.
If the Title Bar (the bar showing the diagram title at the very top) is unnecessary, it can be hidden in Visio for Windows using the built‑in design option:
- Choose the cross‑functional flowchart > Go to the Cross Functional Flowchart tab on the ribbon.
- In the Design group, locate Show Title Bar > Clear (untick) “Show Title Bar” and/or clear "show separators design" (optional)
Once the option is cleared, the Title Bar/Phase Bar is immediately removed while the rest of the flowchart layout remains intact. This is the recommended and supported way to hide the title bar rather than manually deleting shapes, which can cause formatting issues.
Note: In Visio for the web, the behavior is more limited. The Show Title Bar/Show Separators design" option is not available, and the Title Bar/Phase Bar cannot be hidden or removed there. This is a current limitation of Visio for the web compared to the desktop (Windows) version.
