Hello! Sherry. Thanks for the details.
You’re dealing with an old PST file (from Outlook 2007 era) and trying to import it into Outlook for Mac. The problem is:
Outlook for Mac does not support importing PST files directly (it only supports importing from OLM files or from another Outlook for Mac identity).
PST files are a Windows Outlook format.
If you don't have access to a Windows PC/laptop, here are your Mac-only Options:
Use a PST → OLM / PST → MBOX Converter
Several Mac tools exist that read PST files directly and convert them into formats Outlook for Mac can import:
Stellar Converter for PST (Mac)
**PST Converter Pro**
**SysTools PST Converter for Mac**
With these, you can:
Convert PST → **OLM** (direct import into Outlook for Mac)
Or PST → **MBOX/EML** (can be opened in Apple Mail, then migrated).
Downside: most are paid tools (though trials usually let you preview contents, so you can confirm the PST is valid before buying).
Use Apple Mail as a Bridge (with converters)
- Convert PST → MBOX (many converters support this).
- Import the MBOX into Apple Mail.
- From there, you can either keep using Mail.app, or re-sync to an IMAP account (like Gmail/Outlook.com). Then Outlook for Mac can just pull from that account.
Use a Cloud/Online Conversion Service
Some web-based services let you upload a PST and download MBOX/EML.
Not great for large or sensitive mailboxes, but could work if your PST is small and not confidential.
See if this helps. If you need further assistance, just let me know.
Best regards,
Kimberly
