Based on my knowledge , The error code 0x0ea000a is a Windows activation error that usually indicates a licensing or validation issue, commonly due to:
Product key mismatch (OEM vs Retail)
Digital license conflicts (linked to MS account)
Incomplete or corrupted activation state
I have some recommend step to troubleshoot, can you try it and let me know the result :
- Check what version is installed
Make sure your new device has the same edition of Windows that the new product key supports:
Press Win + R → type winver → press Enter
Retail keys for Windows 11 Home won’t activate Pro, and vice versa
-> If mismatched: → Go to Settings > System > Activation > Change product key → Enter a generic key to downgrade/upgrade to correct edition (let me know which edition you need)
- Then check the license status
- Run this command in Command Prompt (Admin):
slmgr /dlv
This should show:
License type (Retail/OEM/Volume)
Partial Product Key
- Activation channel
- Manually re-enter the new product key
If you haven’t already, try reapplying the new key manually:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator
slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
- Then:
slmgr /ato
-> If this fails again with the same error, continue below.
- Remove old license binding from Microsoft account
Sometimes, the old device’s license (especially OEM) conflicts with the new one, especially when using the same Microsoft account.
- Go to: https://account.microsoft.com/devices
- Remove the old device if it’s no longer in use
- Then try activation again
