Replacing your solid-state drive and reinstalling Windows often causes a mismatch between your fresh operating system and the cryptographic keys securely stored on your motherboard's Trusted Platform Module. To resolve this Windows Hello error, you will need to clear the old security data, but please ensure you suspend BitLocker drive encryption in your Control Panel first if you have it enabled, as clearing this module can lock you out of any encrypted drives. Once you have verified your drives are safe, press the Windows key and R simultaneously, type tpm.msc, and press Enter. In the management window that opens, select the option to clear the TPM on the right side and allow your computer to restart, pressing the prompted keyboard key to confirm the hardware reset.

After you log back into Windows using your Microsoft account password, you must remove the corrupted credential files by opening File Explorer and navigating to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft. Right-click the Ngc folder, open its Properties, navigate to the Security tab, click Advanced, and change the Owner to your current administrator account. Once those permissions are applied, open the Ngc folder, delete everything inside it, and restart your computer one last time. You can now navigate to your Windows Settings, access the Accounts section, and successfully set up a fresh PIN in the Sign-in options menu.
