Outlook for mac crashes when composing new email (including reply, forward)

After launch or relaunch, the first email is fine. The second try would reliably crash Outlook. This happens after a system crash so perhaps some database is corrupted. Crash log:

    Updating won't address the root cause because this did not happen before with the same version of the software. In certain cases relaunching Outlook through clear application data would resolve this bug for that session. If I suspect that there is some kind of corruption in Outlook database / user profile, is there any way to repair that?
