Hi Ugur,
Good day. I'm Jhun an independent advisor. In regards with your PC's sleep mode problem, on your system Ryzen 5 7600, Windows 11 24H2/25H2 usually uses Modern Standby (S0) instead of classic S3 sleep. After updates, BIOS or firmware can break the sleep state and cause exactly what you describe: selecting Sleep triggers a full shutdown (S5).
Let's try these steps below and see if it will fix the issue.
A. Check what sleep states you actually have
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run: powercfg /a
- You will likely see: S3 not available Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) available
- If S3 is missing and S0 is unstable, Windows can behave like this.
B. Update BIOS. This problem is very common on AM5 boards after 24H2/25H2 updates.
- Go to your motherboard manufacturer’s website and Install the latest BIOS.
- Make sure it includes AGESA 1.1.7.x or newer
- This fixes sleep state handling in many AM5 systems.
- Do not skip BIOS update, this is the #1 fix for this exact issue.
C. If available disable “Modern Standby” in BIOS.
- Enter BIOS and look for Power Supply Idle Control > Set to Typical Current Idle.
- Disable Modern Standby
- Enable S3 Sleep (if option exists)
- Disable ErP Ready
- On AM5 boards this is usually under: Advanced > AMD CBS > Power Supply Idle Control.
- Set: Power Supply Idle Control = Typical Current Idle
- Save and test sleep again.
D. Disable fast startup. Windows 24H2 sleep bugs are linked to Fast Startup.
- Go to: Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what power buttons do.
- Click Change settings currently unavailable.
- Uncheck Turn on fast startup.
- Restart PC.
- Test sleep again.
E. Check if Windows is forcing hibernate instead of sleep.
- Run: powercfg /h off
- Restart PC.
- Try sleep again.
- If this fixes it, the issue was hibernation corruption.
F. Check Event Viewer, to confirm S5 trigger.
- Press Win+X > Event Viewer.
- Go to: Windows Logs > System.
- Look for: Kernel-Power Event ID 41 Event ID 42
- If it shows shutdown instead of sleep > firmware issue confirmed.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Jhun
