    Hi @Berkay O

Thank you for posting your question in the Q&A Forum.

Based on the screenshot you shared, your account is showing the message “Your account doesn’t allow editing on a Mac”. This issue may occur if you’re currently signed in with a work or school account that lacks the necessary permissions or license tier for editing Office desktop apps on macOS. It can also happen if old activation data is still stored on your device.

Since you mentioned that you can fully edit documents in the Office web apps but not in the desktop apps on macOS, this strongly suggests that your current license only covers the web versions of Office.

Please follow the official Microsoft troubleshooting guide here: Microsoft 365 Apps activation error: Your account doesn’t allow editing on a Mac

The article provides step‑by‑step instructions, including:

    • Verify your license type: Sign in to https://portal.office.com/account > Subscriptions and confirm that your license includes Office desktop apps for Mac.
    • You can also compare the features of Microsoft 365 Education plans here: Microsoft 365 Education plans. For example, the A1 plan only includes Office for the web, while A3 and A5 include the desktop apps.

    • Sign out and sign back in: Open an Office app (e.g., Word), go to Word > Sign Out, then sign in again with your licensed Microsoft 365 account.
    • Remove old license files: Follow the steps in the article to use the License removal tool for Mac.
    • Reinstall Office: If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall Office for Mac.

Since your account is associated with an educational domain, please also check with your university’s IT administrator to confirm whether your Microsoft 365 Education plan includes editing rights on macOS. If your license only covers Office Online, you will need a different license, or another Microsoft 365 account that includes desktop app rights in order to edit on Mac.

If you need any further assistance, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
