Step 1: Run the troubleshooter
- Open the Settings app. When the Settings app opens, head over to the Update & Security section.
- Select Troubleshoot from the left pane. Choose Hardware and Devices from the list and click the Run the troubleshooter button.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the troubleshooter.
- Reboot your computer when you are done
Step 2: Check your battery
If your Surface Pen is not writing, but other buttons work, the issue might be your battery. Surface Pen uses two batteries, one for the pen and one for the buttons, so if the pen isn’t working, it’s rather likely that your battery is empty. To fix this problem, simply replace the battery and check if that solves the problem.
Step 3: Update or reinstall Bluetooth drivers on your PC
- Right-click on the Windows Start icon.
- From the list that’s displayed click on the
- Locate the Bluetooth field and expand it.
- Right-click on the Bluetooth driver.
- Select the Update driver option, and continue the instructions, I suggest selecting the automatic option. After, if updating the driver isn’t fixing your problems, choose to uninstall and reinstall these drivers
- Reboot your computer when you are done.
