💥Most scammers don't actually have your photos or videos; they use automated programs (bots) to send threatening emails to trick scared victims into transferring money.

- Change your password, block and report the email as "spam" or "phishing."
- Check and protect your computer.

But if your data has actually been hacked (not just a threatening email):
- Disconnect, wipe the system, and restore security immediately. Isolate the internet, unplug the LAN cable, and turn off Wi-Fi on your computer immediately.
- Clean malware and hacker files from your computer in Safe Mode. Start your computer in Safe Mode (to prevent malware from running during boot). Perform an offline scan using your antivirus program for a full scan/boot-time scan.
- Format the computer, perform a complete wipe, and reinstall the operating system. (Windows/macOS) New
- Use a different, unhacked mobile phone or computer to reset passwords for all services. Change all passwords, starting with email, bank accounts, social media, and online shopping websites. Sign out of all devices.
- If you previously had two-factor authentication enabled, disable the old verification codes and set up receiving new codes via an application (such as Google Authenticator) instead of the hacked email.
- Check for damage and review the "Activity Log" or "Login History" of your email and social media accounts to see if any unauthorized IP addresses or devices have logged in.
- Check your financial accounts.
