Hello SP,
Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand how frustrating it is when you try to activate a new Microsoft 365 Family subscription but get an error, and then Family Safety also stops loading afterward.
This behavior usually happens when the account is still linked to a previous Family Safety group, even if you already left the former Microsoft 365 subscription. Since the system still considers the account part of an old family group, activation and Family Safety pages can fail to load.
To fix this:
- Remove the account from any existing family group
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/family using the same account and check whether you're still listed under any family.
- If yes, leave the group or ask the organizer to remove you.
- If the page won’t load, try using a different browser or Incognito/Private mode.
- Wait a few minutes, then sign in again at https://account.microsoft.com/services and activate the Microsoft 365 Family license.
- If the account still cannot access Family Safety or the system continues showing “Try refreshing the page,” the family group may be stuck on the server. In that case, contacting Microsoft Support is required so they can reset the family relationship on the backend.
Hope this helps
