Copilot Crashes in new Copilot versions when I try to open my two biggest Chats

2026-10-09T10:48:36.14+00:00

Hello,

After the recent update to Microsoft Copilot, I can still see my chat history titles in the left sidebar, but several of my older conversations cannot be opened.

The issue affects primarily my longest and most important conversations.

When I click one of these chats:

  • The conversation begins loading.
  • The page becomes blank.
  • Copilot eventually crashes or stops responding.
  • I have to restart the app or refresh the page.

The same issue occurs across Copilot on the web and the mobile app, so this does not appear to be device-specific.

The chat titles are still visible, which suggests that the conversations may still exist, but their content cannot be loaded.

Shorter conversations generally open correctly. The problem appears limited to longer conversations.

This has been occurring for several days since the migration to the updated Copilot experience.

Could you please investigate whether this is a synchronization or migration issue and whether the affected conversations can be recovered?

Thank you for your help.

Kindest Regards

For your privacy and security, I have covered the personal information included in your post. Please avoid sharing any personal or sensitive information publicly, such as serial numbers, order details, email addresses, phone numbers, or case-related information.

I will answer you in English based on your previous message. As a friendly suggestion, posting in Swedish may help your question reach a wider audience and increase the chances of receiving assistance from other community members.

    Hello Dag-Kristian Gjerstad,

I understand how concerning this is, especially when the affected conversations are among your longest and most important ones.

Since the chat titles are still visible but their contents fail to load on both the web and mobile app, this does not appear to be limited to one device. However, the visible titles alone do not confirm whether the full conversation content can be recovered.

Could you please confirm whether you are using Copilot with a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account? Also, do you see any message in Copilot indicating that your chats or content are still being moved or synced to the updated experience?

If this is a personal account, please make sure you are using the same account and the same sign-in method as before. You can also check the Microsoft Privacy Dashboard and use Export all activity history under the Copilot section to see whether the affected conversation activity is still associated with your account. Please avoid deleting the chats, clearing the activity history, or resetting the app before checking this.

Because the issue occurs across multiple platforms and affects specific conversations, please also submit feedback directly from Copilot and include the approximate date the issue began, the affected platforms, the chat titles, and any error message displayed. Do not post the conversation links publicly if the chats contain personal or sensitive information.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Contributors cannot access Copilot’s back-end systems or restore account-specific conversation data. If the chats remain inaccessible, please contact Microsoft Support so the appropriate team can investigate the account-specific synchronization or migration issue. Thank you so much for your understanding.
