Work Location visible in New Outlook (M365) but not in Outlook Classic (M365)

2026-09-02T10:03:45.0066667+00:00

According to the Microsoft article below:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/notifications-and-settings/set-your-work-hours-and-location-in-outlook

the following statement is made:

"You can view work hours and location for yourself and others in classic Outlook..."

The article also states:

"This feature is not available yet for classic Outlook for Windows with GCCHigh."

This appears to imply that the feature should be available in standard Microsoft 365 environments outside GCC High.

Environment

  • Microsoft 365
  • New Outlook for Windows: Version 1.2026.818.100
  • Outlook Classic: Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise, Version 2608 (Build 16.0.20326.20072) 64-bit

Observations

We have configured Work hours and location in New Outlook.

In New Outlook, work location indicators (e.g. Remote / In Office) are visible in the Scheduling Assistant for meeting attendees.

In Outlook Classic, the same information is not visible:

  • not in Scheduling Assistant,
  • not in attendees' profile cards.

The same users and the same mailbox are being used in both Outlook clients.

Question

Could Microsoft please clarify:

  1. Is viewing other users' Work Location currently supported in Outlook Classic?
  2. If yes, in which specific view(s) should it be displayed?
  3. Are there any licensing, policy, tenant, or client-version requirements?
  4. If this is not currently supported in Outlook Classic, how should the wording in the documentation be interpreted?

Screenshots from both New Outlook and Outlook Classic are included below.

I noticed that you use English in your messages even though it is an Swedish-speaking forum; I will therefore continue in English so that my answer is as clear and useful as possible. If you'd prefer me to switch to Swedish, please let me know and I'll gladly do so.

    Dear @Michael Willershausen,

Good day! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

Based on your description and the screenshots provided, I understand that Work Location indicators are successfully displayed in the Scheduling Assistant in New Outlook, but the same indicators do not appear in Outlook Classic for the same users and mailbox. You would like clarification on whether viewing Work Location in Outlook Classic is currently supported, and if so, what requirements or configuration changes are needed to enable it.

Regarding this situation, I performed additional testing in a Microsoft 365 environment and initially observed behavior similar to what you reported because at first, I didn't have any Work location information. However, after updating my Work Location and allowing the information some time to synchronize, the Work Location icon became visible in the Outlook Classic Scheduling Assistant.

Therefore, could you please try the following:

    • In Outlook Classic, navigate to: File > Options > Calendar > Work hours and location
    • Update the Work Location setting (for example, change the location and save the update)
    • Allow some time for the change to synchronize across Microsoft 365 services
    • Restart Outlook Classic
    • Create a new meeting request and check the Scheduling Assistant again

Kindly let me know when there are updates or if you need further assistance. Any updates you’re able to share would be really helpful.

I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing how things are going!

Thank you for your time and patience.
