Hi Magid Darwisha,
Welcome to the Microsoft Community. We apologize to hear you're experiencing issues with your OneDrive files deleted without clear reason.
Following reason:
Reason 1: OneDrive Account Frozen or Inactive:
Microsoft may freeze accounts that are inactive or over quota.
A warning email typically states that files will be deleted on a specific date unless action is taken.
Inactivity: You haven’t signed in or used OneDrive for a long time.
Option 1:Sign In to OneDrive and reactivate your account.
Step 1: Go to OneDrive.com
Step 2: Sign in with your Microsoft account to reactivate it.
Option 2: Upgrade Your Storage
Step 1: Visit Microsoft Account Services
Step 2: Choose a plan that fits your needs (e.g., 50 GB or Microsoft 365 with 1 TB).
Reason 2: Subscription Expired
If your Microsoft 365 subscription expired, your storage drops from 1 TB to 5 GB.
Files exceeding the new limit may be deleted if not backed up or moved.
Check Subscription from OneDrive
Step 1: Go to Microsoft Account Services.
Step 2: Sign in with your Microsoft account (the one linked to OneDrive).
Step 3: Under Subscriptions, look for:
Microsoft 365 (includes 1 TB OneDrive storage)
OneDrive Standalone Plan (e.g., 50 GB)
Step 4: You’ll see:
Current plan
Renewal or expiration date
Payment method
Option to manage or cancel your subscription
Reason 3: Recycle Bin Not Checked
Deleted files may still be in the OneDrive Recycle Bin, which you can restore from within 30 days 3.
Restore Deleted files
Step 1: Go to OneDrive.com.
Step 2: Sign in with your Microsoft account.
Step 3: In the left-hand menu, click Recycle bin.
Step 4: Browse or search for the files you want to restore.
Step 5: Select the files or folders.
Step 6: Click Restore at the top of the page.
Reason 4: Contact Microsoft Support
If your files were deleted and not recoverable via the Recycle Bin:
Contact Microsoft Support
Online Support Portal
Step 1: Go to the official Microsoft Support page.
Step 2: Click "Get support" or "Contact support".
Step 3: Sign in with your Microsoft account.
Step 4: Select:
Product: OneDrive
Issue: Files deleted or missing
Step 5: Choose how you want to contact them:
Live chat
Request a call
Email support (if available)
Option 2: Microsoft 365 Support (if you're a subscriber)
Step 1: Visit Microsoft 365 Admin Center (if applicable).
Step 2: Go to Support > New service request.
Step 3: Describe your issue and request escalation for OneDrive data recovery.
I hope this information helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Warm Regards,
Jansher | Microsoft Community Support
