    Finally managed to solve it!

I made an iTunes backup, reset the iPad.

Then restarted, and used the assistance offered, by using settings from my iPhone.

Installed and tried OneNote again: failed!!!

Did one more reset of the iPad.

Did no install from iPhone, just a new clear install.

    Installed OneNote - it works!!!

I got a list of notebooks to open, and they all work.

After that I have NOT restored the backup via iTunes.

I chose to reinstall the few (about 20) apps I had on the iPad.

    And it is still working.

Thank you all for your assistance!

    It is iPadOS 14.4.2

    OneNote is 16.48 (21040401)

About 'app activities in the background': should that be on or off, or doesn't matter?

There are some more settings about errors:

    Data from Foreca (off)

    Latest error ID aea5.....6368_main_oom

    Latest error version 16.48.0.210404

It is still worrying that 'reset OneNote' doesn't help at all.

I am also thinking about if there is a problem with a notebook.

But it works without problem on my iPhone, so that doesn't seem logical either.

I just removed, downloaded, installed. Started: opens and disappears in 2 seconds.

Doubleclick on the bytton: OneNote is there.

    So nothing has changed.

You guys are independant advisors, right?

Thanks for your efforts and patience.

Is there no way to get help from Microsoft directly? (I guess Apple won't help...)

    I have been patient, too.

I can live with using OneNote on my PC and my iPhone.

But one of the reasons I bought the iPad was to get my notebooks more easy to read.

So it is disappointing, and weird.

I have never had this kind of 'sustainable' problem on iPhone or iPad before.

    (Not even on Android... ;-)

    Any more ideas?

    Thank you! / Jan

I'm sorry that we have been unable to resolve the issue so far. Could you please check and let me know what version of iOS your iPad is using?

    Hi Joe!

This may be an interesting question, I think.

I have removed both OneNote and OneDrive.

I can't find any Microsoft account, where is it?

There are 3 accounts in Settings/E-mail: icloud, nlk, Telia JB, none of them is my Microsoft account.

When I reinstall OneDrive, it is immediately showing my files in the cloud,

So somewhere there is access to the Microsoft account, for sure.

Since I can't find it, I can't turn it off...

    ...

After a while, at least I found that I could log out from my MS account (from the person image in OneDrive).

I tried to set the recover switches for OneNote (both for 'no notebooks' and 'new logon'), and tried it again:

it just starts and disappears instantly (still in the active list, though).

No chance to log on again.

Then I tried to start OneDrive, and there I had to do a new logon to my MS account. With 2-factor authentication, just as normal.

    OneNote still not behaving normally.

Hello! My name is Joe, and I am an Independent Advisor as well as a long-time Microsoft user. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I am hopeful that I will be able to help you find a satisfactory solution.

Just a thought - Could you try going into the iPad settings and remove any account associated with your Microsoft account? I am wondering if the OneNote app is automatically associating itself with whatever signed in account is present in Settings.

Perhaps uninstalling the OneNote app (and perhaps any other Microsoft apps) and removing the account from Settings will help to make things work properly once you re-add the account and reinstall the associated apps.

Please let me know if you need a little more clarifying information on this process.

    Warm Regards,

    Joe
