Hi, I just upgraded my internet to 1gbs, but my pc could still only use 100mbs. So I contacted my carrier(ComHem) for help and they told me that I should change the duplex setting to 1gbs, but when I do that my ethernet just disappears from my pc. I searched online and did not find any solution.

Thanks for pointing out that the above did not work, you can try to do the following, you must go to the network internet icon on the taskbar (bottom right). You should click and go to Network and Internet Settings.

Then you need to click on Ethernet. It will open the network card settings. You need to click Change adapter options.

Now the different network cards you have on your PC appear. Generally it will be the Ethernet card and the wireless card. You enter with double clic on the Ethernet or Wi Fi and a series of information appears. One of them indicates the speed. It can be 100.0 MB or 1 GB. If it is the second, the card is properly configured.

If you see that they go up to 100.0 Mbps, something is wrong. The card may be misconfigured. To do this you must do the following:

    Set it to 1GB

Continuing in the same window (where the speed is found), you will click on Properties.

Later, you will make sure that the Client for Microsoft networks option is checked, you will do in Configure.

Now you will have to go to Advanced Options and search for Speed & Duplex.

This is where you will have to change the value. Most likely, if you get this far, it is because it is configured as 100 Mbps Full Duplex. You must change it for 1 GB Full Duplex and accept.

For more security you can restart your PC.

After analyzing the information you have provided, it is likely that two network cards are installed on your computer and previously you only recognized the one with the network cable connected.

The best thing to do when faced with the incident you present is that you uninstall the driver from Start, Control Panel, Device Manager and again download the appropriate driver for your PC model, directly from the manufacturer's page. You can download it from a computer that has an internet connection and then install it on your computer through a USB memory.
