Hello Community!

One of my clients are requesting a feature where the URL of the "New tab page" should always be visible in the address bar.

In my reasearch I have come to understand that hiding the address bar URL is a default feature in Edge when opening a new tab.

Howerver, my client wants to be able to see the URL to easily copy paste links to collegues, and to know where they are in the browser.

The new tab page is configured to automatically open their intranet site via group policy settings for Edge.

Is it possible to configure group policy settings to make the URL visible in the address bar when opening a new tab in Edge?

Here are my current computer domain policies for Edge:

  • Configure Start pages: Enabled = <https://intranet.contoso.se/>
  • Allow web content on New Tab page: Enabled
  • Action to take on startup: Enabled = Open a list of URLs
  • Allow users to add and remove their own sites during startup when the RestoreOnstartupURLs policy is configured: Enabled
  • Configure the home page URL: Enabled = https://intranet.contoso.se
  • Configure the new tab page URL: Enabled = https://intranet.constoso.se
  • Set the new tab page as the home page: Disabled
  • Show home button on toolbar: Enabled
  • Sites to open when the browser starts: Enabled = https://intranet.contoso.se

I have searched the internet high and low to find a soloution for this, any and all advice is appreciated!

Regards,

Filip M

Good day Filip! I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. By the looks of this there is no native way of doing this but since you are also checking for group policy, I would suggest to post this query to our neighbor forum from the link below as this is best suited in there. They are more oriented on with regards to this type queries/issues and there will be IT Pros/System Admins/Server Admins/AD Admins who are available that will be able to fulfill your query out there.
