Skype for Business Mac client crashes on call start after macOS 26 update (SfB Server Subscription Edition backend) — is a compatibility patch planned?

We run an on-premises Skype for Business Server Subscription Edition (SE) deployment, and several of our Mac users have started experiencing crashes in the Skype for Business Mac client when initiating or answering a call, specifically after upgrading to macOS 26.

Environment:

  • Skype for Business Mac client version: 16.31.0.74 (latest per Download Center)
  • Backend: Skype for Business Server Subscription Edition (on-premises)
  • macOS version: 26 (build: [уточните точный build, например 26.0 (25A...)])
  • Hardware: [Intel or Apple Silicon — уточните]

Symptom: The application crashes consistently when a call is started (both outgoing and incoming). This did not occur prior to upgrading to macOS 26. We suspect this may be a compatibility issue with the new OS version (e.g. changes to microphone/camera permission handling, or Rosetta 2 translation on Apple Silicon), but haven't been able to confirm root cause from the crash log alone.

What we've already tried:

  • Reinstalled the latest client version
  • Verified microphone/camera permissions are granted in System Settings
  • Confirmed Rosetta 2 is installed and up to date (on Apple Silicon devices)

Questions:

  1. Is this a known compatibility issue between the Skype for Business Mac client and macOS 26?
  2. Is a client update/patch planned to address macOS 26 compatibility, and if so, is there an expected timeframe?
  3. Are there any interim workarounds we should apply while waiting for a fix?We run an on-premises Skype for Business Server Subscription Edition (SE) deployment, and several of our Mac users have started experiencing crashes in the Skype for Business Mac client when initiating or answering a call, specifically after upgrading to macOS 26.
