Windows 11’s newer File Explorer context menu moved common actions such as Cut, Copy, Paste, Rename, Share, and Delete into the top row as icons, while the legacy menu may still show older-style text entries. Currently, there is no supported Windows setting that changes only those shortened context-menu labels into full words.
If you mean to reduce the items available in the menu, the safest and most user-friendly way to streamline your menu is to check the individual settings within specific applications, to disable their shell integration directly from their own preference menus. Alternatively, some third-party utilities allow you to safely filter out and disable third-party shell extensions without manually altering core system files.

2026-05-07T09:21:51.4033333+00:00 Hi, friend! The abbreviated words appeared yesterday. No updates or other programs were installed. Reverting to the old menu didn't change the situation. I tried resetting the menu, reinstalling the entire localization pack, clearing the icon cache, and so on. The shell32.dll.mui structure contains no abbreviations, and the words are spelled out in full.

Please check Settings > Windows Update > Update history and confirm whether any cumulative, language, or Windows configuration updates were installed around the time the issue started. Also test whether the same abbreviations appear in a newly created local administrator profile, as this helps confirm whether the issue is profile-specific or system-wide.
If this started only yesterday and there is no manual change you can undo, the most practical workaround is to use System Restore to return Windows to a restore point created before the abbreviations appeared: Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
If no restore point is available, you can try uninstalling the most recent Windows update from Update history > Uninstall updates, then pause updates temporarily and report the issue through Feedback Hub with the screenshots attached.

Если проблема возвращается только после повторного подключения Windows к Интернету или после повторного применения обновлений, то она может быть связана с обновлением Microsoft или системным компонентом. В таком случае лучший вариант — сообщить об этом через Центр обратной связи с скриншотами и деталями, чтобы Microsoft могла проверить и исправить это в будущем обновлении.
С другой стороны, если проблема возвращается даже во время паузы обновлений или когда устройство офлайн, это может быть вызвано сторонним приложением, расширением оболочки, языковым компонентом или фоновым сервисом. Дмитрий Пыженко 0 Баллы репутации2026-06-11T21:01:52.4266667+00:00 Переустановил систему, обновил, все нормально. Это появляется где то через 2-3 часа после переустановки и обновления системы. В общем заново переустановил систему скачал все обновления что требовались в данный момент и полностью отключил обновления с помощью Windows Update Blocker. Второй день все нормально.
