Hello,

I am experiencing a critical issue with a USB-Serial CH340 device (ESP32-WROOM-32) on Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview (Build 26200.8246).

Symptoms:

  1. Upon connecting the device, no COM port is assigned.
  2. Attempting to change port settings or view properties in Device Manager causes the application to crash/close immediately.
  3. I see duplicate device entries with different Hub locations (Port_#0001.Hub_#0004 and Port_#0001.Hub_#0005).

Investigation: I noticed a discrepancy in the "Driver Details" tab between the two device instances:

  • Instance 1: Shows a complete driver set with a valid Catalog File (ch341ser.cat).
  • Instance 2 (Newer driver version 3.90): Shows no Catalog File ("No data") and significantly fewer driver files loaded.

It appears the newer driver installation is corrupt or missing the signature catalog, causing the system instability.

Steps taken:

  • Uninstalled all instances of the device.
  • Attempted to install the latest driver from wch.cn (CH341SER).
  • The issue persists on this specific Insider build.

Has anyone else encountered driver catalog validation issues or Device Manager crashes with CH340/CH341 drivers on Build 26200?Hello,
