error when adding a number to a Microsoft account

Thank you for reaching out about this error: "This country or region code is not supported. Please add an email address instead." This is a standard regional restriction due to Microsoft's security and policy requirements. 

In the meantime, I suggest using email instead: 

-Go to: account.microsoft.com/security 

-Navigate to Security info > Add sign-in method > Email 

-Check your inbox, enter the code 

This fully enables sign-ins, account recovery, two-step verification, and Microsoft Rewards
