Hello,

My Microsoft account REMOVE PII ******@edu.em-lyon.com has been blocked.

When I try to sign in, I get the message:

“Your account has been blocked. Contact your support person to unlock it.”

When I try to recover it through the Microsoft account recovery form, it shows:

“The Microsoft account entered does not exist.”

This is an edu account provided by my university (em-lyon.com).

The account was used for work purposes, and logins were performed from multiple devices, which might have triggered the block.

I urgently need to regain access to my account and connected services (email, OneDrive, Office 365).

Please advise how I can unlock or recover this account.

I’m ready to verify my identity or provide any required details if necessary.

Thank you in adv

ance for your help! 🙏

    Hi  @Aibek Turdaliev

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please understand that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to cover your organization domain name in the description. Please notice to hide these personal or organization information next time you post error or some information to protect personal data.

Regarding your issue, as a forum moderator I want to help clarify a bit, the Microsoft account recovery form only works for personal Microsoft accounts (such as those ending in @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, etc.). It does not apply to education or work accounts provided by schools or organizations.

Since your account is an education account, that’s why the recovery form shows the message:

“The Microsoft account entered does not exist.”

To regain access, you’ll need to contact your school’s IT administrator. They manage education accounts and can help you reset your password or unlock your account. You can ask them to follow these steps below to help unblock your account.

    Here are the steps:

    1. Sign in to the entra.microsoft.com as at least Authentication Administrator role.
    2. Select User -> All user.   Select the user (your account) to act on and select Authentication methods. then select Require re-register of multi-factor authentication.
    • Require re-register MFA:  This disables all previous authentication methods. You'll then be prompted to configure a new MFA authentication method the next time you try to sign in, so you can set up from the start and add a new authenticator app.

(My current test environment uses the English interface, but the same can be done in the Russian interface)

For more details, please refer to: Manage user authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication.

Note: Once re-registration is triggered, all your existing MFA methods such as phone numbers, Authenticator app, or other verification options will be removed. You will need to set up new MFA methods during your next login. Please ensure you have access to a valid phone number or the Microsoft Authenticator app before attempting to sign in again.

Hopefully it will help work with your issue and if you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.
