Hello,

I run faceless YouTube channels (gaming news, Portuguese and English) and I want to use Azure Speech text to speech for the narration of monetized videos. Before publishing anything, I want to be sure I have the right to use the audio commercially.

My setup:

  • Azure free account (the USD 200 credit for the first 30 days). I have NOT upgraded to pay-as-you-go yet.
  • A Speech resource on the Standard S0 pricing tier (not F0), region East US.
  • Voices: prebuilt pt-BR-Rafael:MAI-Voice-2.1, pt-BR-Caio:MAI-Voice-2.1, en-US-Olivia:MAI-Voice-2.1 and en-US-Ethan:MAI-Voice-2.1.

I read that the Product Terms say: "For Customers of the paid tier TTS Service only, Customer may use the audio output of prebuilt neural voices generated using the TTS Service, including for commercial purposes." I also read in this forum that the F0 free tier does not carry this right.

My questions:

  1. Does an S0 resource whose usage is paid with free account credits count as a "paid tier TTS Service" customer for the commercial output rights? Or do I need to upgrade the subscription to pay-as-you-go first?
  2. MAI-Voice-2.1 is in public preview, and the Supplemental Terms for Previews say generative AI previews "are not intended to be used in production". Am I allowed to use audio generated with the prebuilt MAI-Voice-2.1 voices in published, monetized YouTube videos? Is there any extra restriction compared with GA neural / HD voices?
  3. Is any attribution or AI disclosure required by Microsoft beyond YouTube's own "altered or synthetic content" label? (I plan to state "AI-generated narration" in the description anyway.)
