Hello,
I am requesting a deeper investigation regarding the loss and corruption of my photo files stored through OneDrive.
On July 7, 2026, I imported approximately 1,800 photos directly from a memory card into the OneDrive application on my MacBook. After the upload process was completed, I imported these files into Adobe Lightroom. Approximately 15 days later, when I started reviewing and editing the photos, I noticed that Lightroom was showing several files as corrupted or missing from their original folders.
After investigating the issue, I found that from the original 1,800 photos, only around 300 files remained, and most of these files had a size of 0 bytes, making them unusable. Only approximately 15 photos were still available for editing.
I checked all possible recovery locations, including:
- OneDrive online recycle bin;
MacBook recycle bin;
Local computer storage;
OneDrive version history/recovery options.
Unfortunately, no valid copies of the missing photos were found. During my previous contact with OneDrive support on July 30, 2026, we performed a restoration history check, but only the same corrupted files were available, which does not explain where the original valid files went.
I also contacted Apple Support and had the device inspected. Their analysis indicated that the issue is likely related to OneDrive synchronization because, when using the OneDrive application on macOS, files may be managed through the cloud storage system rather than remaining fully stored locally on the computer.
Additionally, I have recently experienced similar issues with other photos: Lightroom reports files as corrupted, and when attempting to download these files again through OneDrive, the application reports problems with the files. However, when I manually download the same files, they appear to be intact. This suggests there may be an ongoing synchronization or file integrity issue.
Considering that these photos are professional work material and their loss represents a financial impact, I kindly request that this case be escalated to a technical team capable of investigating:
OneDrive synchronization logs;
File version history beyond the standard user-accessible recovery;
Possible corruption during upload or synchronization;
Any incidents related to the Microsoft system update around July 8, 2026;
Any interaction issues between OneDrive for macOS and Adobe Lightroom workflows.
I understand that files may not always be recoverable, but I would appreciate a complete technical investigation before concluding that the issue was not related to OneDrive.
Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to a detailed analysis and possible recovery options.
