PostgreSQL Flexible Server stuck in internal operation for 4+ hours — cannot stop

The PostgreSQL Flexible Server has been stuck in an internal operation for over 4 hours. The server status has been cycling between Starting, Updating, and Creating without completing any of these transitions.

All attempts to execute a Stop operation have failed with the following error: SeverBusyWithOtherOperation — Cannot perform 'Stop' server operation because server is busy processing other operation.

Timeline:

13:29 UTC — Creation of server was initiated (possibly related)
13:29 UTC — Main server entered an internal operation
15:29 UTC — Stop attempt failed with SeverBusyWithOtherOperation
15:29 UTC+ — Server status reported as Starting
As of now: no operation has completed, Stop command continues to fail

We are requesting a forced cancellation of the stuck internal operation so the server can return to Ready or Stopped status.

Impact: Application is unable to connect to the database. Connection refused on. All production workloads are affected.

Hi @Kleber Nunes

We identified that the PostgreSQL Flexible Server was stuck in a transitional state due to unhealthy underlying service components. This caused the server status to cycle between Starting, Updating, and Creating, and prevented management operations like Stop from completing, resulting in the ServerBusyWithOtherOperation error.

Our PG team has restarted the containers. Following this, the server has returned to a healthy state and is now transitioning back to Ready.

You should now be able to reconnect to the database and resume normal operations.
