Hi, glad to assist you today!

Excel follows your Windows regional settings for the decimal symbol, and you can set default number formatting through Excel Options and templates.

To set 2 decimal places by default:

• Open Excel.

• Go to File, Options.

• Select Advanced.

• Under Editing options, make sure “Automatically insert a decimal point” is unchecked.

• Under Display options for this worksheet, set the decimal separator to a dot if needed by checking “Use system separators” off and setting Decimal separator to “.” and Thousands separator to “,”.

To make all new workbooks use 2 decimals:

• Open a blank workbook.

• Select all cells by clicking the triangle in the top left corner.

• Press Ctrl + 1.

• Choose Number.

• Set Decimal places to 2.

• Click OK.

• Go to File, Save As.

• Save the file as Excel Template named Book.xltx in the XLSTART folder.

Excel uses the Book.xltx template in the XLSTART folder as the default for new workbooks. After this, every new file will start with 2 decimal places and the dot as defined.

If you confirm your Windows decimal symbol is already set to a dot, please let me know.
