Inline code backtick formatting broken on MacOS when using US International - PC text input source

Whenever I type a backtick, a word, and then another backtick the word is not formatted as inline code (Monospaced). I think it broke after I upgrade to MacOS 13.4, but I'm definitely not sure. If I switch to Dutch text input source, then the backtick formatting works again. But I don't want to use that text input source as it drastically hurts my typing speed.

Why doesn't backtick formatting work anymore?

  • I'm am on MacOS 13.4
  • I'm on a QWERTY Apple Magic keyboard
  • I'm using the "US International - PC" text input source

    1. Unistall and install the app
    2. Clear Cache

    You may also try to access the Teams web version if the issue will persist.

    Hi Joanna,

    Thanks for the quick response. I tried your advised steps but both didn't fix the issue. I then also tried to see if the web version has the same issue and it unfortunately does. For clarity and proof, here are some GIFs and a screenshot of the used text input source. The last character I type is a space 😉.

    It seems to be a bug.

    I would suggest submitting a feedback to report the issue and let the support team of Microsoft check and test this as it may caused by the recent update.
