Hello Hans Schoneveld,
Thank you for your question on the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand how worrying it is to suddenly lose 8 important labels (folders) right after doing some routine maintenance in your inbox.
Normally, Outlook prevents the primary system inbox from being deleted. However, if "Bandeja de entrada" was a custom folder, an IMAP folder, or a secondary database, it is possible to delete it.
Since you've already emptied Outlook's trash ("Deleted Items"), these are your best recovery options:
Step 1: Check your webmail
- Open a web browser and log in directly to your email provider's website
- Check the folder list and the Trash on the website itself. Sometimes, items on the server are not immediately permanently deleted when you empty the trash in the Outlook desktop app.
Step 2: Use "Recover Deleted Items" (Exchange/Work Accounts)
If this is a business email address that runs on Microsoft Exchange, emptying the Deleted Items folder doesn't immediately permanently delete items. Microsoft stores them in a hidden vault on the server for 14 to 30 days.
In Outlook, click the Folder tab at the top. Click the Recover deleted items from server button. When a new window pops up, look for your missing folders or emails. Select them, make sure Restore Selected Items is checked, and click OK.
Step 3: Check IMAP Subscriptions (Gmail/Yahoo/Third-Party)
With an IMAP account, deleting a folder sometimes only causes the "subscription" to be canceled, so that you no longer see the folder in Outlook, while the data on the server still exists.
Right-click your email address or the Inbox folder in the left sidebar, and then select IMAP folders. Click the Query button. Search for your 8 missing labels. If they appear, click on them and select Subscribe, and click OK.
Step 4: Check the Windows Recycle Bin
You indicated that you "deleted this file". If you've actually gone to the files on your computer (like Documents\Outlook files) and deleted a .pst or .ost file from Windows itself, your folders will be in the Windows recycle bin, not Outlook's.
Open the Recycle Bin on your desktop, locate the file, right-click on it, and select Restore.
To help me find the right solution if these steps don't work, could you please let me know what type of email account you use in Outlook (e.g., Office 365 Exchange, Gmail, IMAP, or POP3)?
