Good day! I am Independent Advisor Paul R. and also a Microsoft/Windows user like you and I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. I understand that you are trying to delete the profile icon in MS Edge.
By the looks of this one, the reason for the picture on the Edge icon is because of multiple profiles and it is a feature in which each profile will act as a separate user having their respective bookmarks, extensions, passwords, and browsing history.
Kindly try and check the steps below and hopefully it helps out with your query.
Regards,
Paul R.
Hello,
I assume it is normal that Windows does this by default if you either let Windows Update do the upgrade to Edge Chromium instead of doing that manually or if you get Edge Chromium AFTER August Cumulative update for Windows 10 version 1909, or if both apply.
Now Profile 1 is the Default and Profile 2 with the cactus icon is made by Windows simply to show you the basic Edge without any personal settings.
And I have deleted all history by having checked all options and applied it to all time and I completely resetted Edge Chromium. Still the icon was there on the Taskbar as was the extra 'Profile 1 - Edge' shortcut..
Now what I did was clicking 'Start' and then right click on 'Edge' and then to 'More' and then 'Remove from Taskbar'.
Then right click on Edge again and click on 'Add to Taskbar' and the icon was normal again. And I deleted that extra 'Profile 1 - Edge' shortcut because just 'Microsoft Edge' shortcut is enough.
