My Outlook/Hotmail email is blocked for sending and receiving.

I have upgraded to 100 GB storage and have available space, but the mailbox is still locked.

Please manually unblock my mailbox.

    Hello kristin skree,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how frustrating it is to find that your Outlook/Hotmail account is blocked from both sending and receiving emails, especially after you have already upgraded your storage and confirmed there is available space.

Based on your description, this issue is not related to mailbox storage. When an Outlook.com or Hotmail account is blocked for both sending and receiving, and sufficient storage is available, the restriction is applied at the account service level, not by the Outlook app or mailbox quota.

Please note that contributors and moderators on the Microsoft Q&A forum do not have access to Microsoft’s internal account systems and cannot manually unblock or modify account‑level restrictions. These blocks are usually applied automatically by Microsoft’s protection systems (for example, due to unusual activity or compliance checks) and can only be reviewed and lifted by Microsoft Account Support after verification.

To move forward, please contact Microsoft Support directly using the steps below:

    1. Visit the Microsoft Support contact page: Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. In the search bar provided on the page, type "Email sending/receiving issues" and press Enter.
    3. Click on the "Get Help" button that appears.
    4. Scroll down the page until you see and click on the "Contact Support" option.
    5. When prompted to select your product or service, choose "Other Products".
    6. For the category, choose "Outlook".
    7. Look for and click on "Chat with a support agent in your web browser".
    8. Confirm your personal email when prompted - this is the email Microsoft will use to communicate with you during and after the support session.

When connected, explain that your mailbox is blocked for sending and receiving despite having available storage, and request an account‑level review.

I hope this explanation clarifies the situation and helps you reach the appropriate support channel to have the restriction reviewed.
