"exchange.ost is in use and cannot be accessed. close any application that is using this file, and then try again. You Might need to restart your computer."

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-excel/not-able-to-send-mail-as-attachment-via-excel/eaccccc7-3639-4eee-b807-e2d210b0c01a

Svaret fra Microsoft:

Hello Jorgen,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Office Community.

I would require additional information to assist you better:

  1. What type of email account are you working in Outlook? Is it Exchange Server email account?
  2. Is Outlook open when you try sending Excel as an attachment?
  3. Do you have Lync or Office Communicator installed on your computer?

Let's start Outlook in safe mode and then try sending Excel file as an attachment and verify the result.

  1. Start Outlook in safe mode following the below mentioned steps:

* Hold Windows key + R.

* Copy and paste, or type the following command in the Open box, and then press Enter:

Outlook /safe

Note: There is space between Outlook and ‘/’

If Outlook safe works, disable the add-ins following steps mentioned below and determine the problem causing add-in:

a) Click on File menu, click Options, Add-ins, Go button besides Manage: Com-in Add.

b) Check if there are add-ins listed, clear the checkbox.

c) Close the Office program and restart it.

d) Disable each add-in one at a time, restart the Outlook, and repeat the above procedure. If the issue reappears again, it will help you to determine which add-in is causing this issue.

  1. If issue still occurs, create a new profile and add the email account and then try sending the Excel file.

Refer to the following article for instructions on how to create new profile:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/create-an-outlook-profile-HA102749460.aspx?CTT=1

Hope the above information helps. Reply with necessary information and the result for further assistance.

Thank You.
