My main admin user : 'Åsmund' has a special characters..

This creates an issue that certain files / programs won't install.

I can't delete this admin user or at least I have tried without success.

With the main admin user Åsmund many files automatically generates a path with this name in it and I have not yet found a way around this.

Please advise so that I will be allowed to install files.

Hello again Greg. I created a new admin account already and it is working. I am afraid of going down your suggestion path as I already have many programs and things running on that problematic user and not sure even if I can move my office package and other things with out messing with the licences and such and it is then recognised as a new user , right?

is there an easier way to do this ? also I think the computer is having issues running 2 admins at the same time

    thank you

Hello, we don't do remote sessions in forums. This is interactive help.

I gave you several things to try to test if the account is corrupted before removing the old account. Please go back to my first post and follow the steps I gave in order to test if a new Admin account works correctly, and if so move your files over and then delete the old account, so you can change your MS Account to the new one. If you don't have a MS Account then you can leave the old one, or you can just change it to a Local Account to free up your MS Account for moving.

Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.

Hello, I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

Since you have identified the account as causing this, Test for account corruption by creating a new Local Admin account to see if the problem goes away:

    https://pureinfotech.com/create-local-administr...

Sign into the new account, test it works correctly, if so Move your files over via C:\Users. When you choose the old account from the new one there, before it will open your User folders it will issue permissions to you as an Admin for all of them, with a green bar running across the address box of Explorer. This may take a while but you will then be able to open each User folder (Documents, Pictures, Downloads, etc) from Home Tab, choose Select All, then Copy. Browse on left-hand Explorer bar to the corresponding folder in the new account to right click it to Paste, then open and confirm all files copied.

Apps are installed to all Users so they should be no problem.

When ready delete the old account in Settings > Accounts > Family & Other Users, or change it to a Local Account in Settings > Accounts > Your Info > Sign in with a Local Account Instead.

You can change the new account to your Microsoft account if desired in Settings > Accounts > Your Info > Sign in with a Microsoft Account Instead.

Feel free to ask back any questions. If you'll post back detailed results then I may know what to suggest next, if necessary.
