Specifications around attachment indexing for Confluence connector

Hi, I'm evaluating the Confluence Cloud Microsoft Graph Connector for Microsoft 365 Copilot and have a question about how attachments uploaded to Confluence pages are handled during indexing.

Background

The official Microsoft Learn documentation (Confluence Cloud overview) lists attachments as one of the indexed content types, and the OAuth 2.0 setup guide (Confluence Cloud admin setup) includes the scope read:attachment:confluence, which suggests attachment access is supported at the API level.

However, the documentation does not go into detail on several points that are critical for enterprise deployment decisions. I'd appreciate clarification on the following:

Questions

1. Supported file formats Which attachment file formats are actually indexed and made available for Copilot Q&A?

  • Is there an official list of supported formats (e.g., PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, TXT, images)?
  • Are there any formats that are explicitly excluded?

2. Full-text indexing of attachment content While the read:attachment:confluence scope confirms the connector can access attachments, does the connector actually index the text content inside the file (e.g., body text of a PDF or Word document)?

  • Or is only the attachment metadata (filename, upload date, etc.) indexed?
  • Can users query Copilot with questions whose answers are contained within an attachment body?

3. File size and count limits

  • Is there a maximum file size per attachment that the connector will index?
  • Is there a limit on the number of attachments per page, or total attachments per Confluence site?
  • I noticed that the File Share connector documentation and the Graph connector API limits page describe certain constraints — do these same limits apply to the Confluence Cloud connector as well?

4. Permission handling for attachments

  • How are permissions applied to indexed attachments?
  • Does an attachment inherit the space-level permissions and page-level restrictions of the Confluence page it is attached to?
  • If a page has restrictions (e.g., view-only for a specific group), does that restriction also apply to the attachment when surfaced in Copilot results?

Any official documentation pointers or confirmation from the product team would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
