Thanks for sharing the details, Jeongmin! I see exactly what’s happening here. This mostly happens when sending compressed files from MacOS to Windows, especially over messaging apps like KakaoTalk but can also be caused by MacOS-specific ZIP features that Windows can’t read properly.
When sending files over KakaoTalk (or other chat apps), the app may:
- Change the file format
- Cut off the file if it’s too large
- Fail to transmit the binary data correctly
This is why your student’s Windows PC sees it as empty or corrupt.
As for sending via zipped file, use a cross-platform-friendly ZIP tool on Mac
- Install Keka (free for Mac) or The Unarchiver.
- Compress the folder using these tools with standard ZIP settings.
- Avoid “Mac-specific” compression options.
See if this helps. If you need further assistance just let me know.
Best regards,
Kimberly
