Is it acceptable to use Access Runtime instead of Access Database Engine 2016?
Recently, after either an Office update or a Windows update (we are not sure which one), the Access Database Engine 2016 that we had been using stopped working.
After investigating, we found that support for Access Database Engine 2016 ended last year, and it appears that Microsoft recommends using Access Runtime instead.
However, even after installing Access Runtime, the issue has not been resolved.
Could you please advise on how to fix this issue?
・Environment
OS: Windows 11 (64-bit)
Application: 64-bit application
.NET Framework: 4.8
・Issue Details
We are simply accessing an Excel file using OleDbConnection as shown below.
The connection opens successfully, but when the application is closed, an Application Error is logged in Event Viewer.
string connStr =
"Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.16.0;" +
"Data Source=\"C:\\Test\\Test.xlsx\";" +
"Extended Properties=\"Excel 12.0;" +
"HDR=YES;\"";
using (var conn = new OleDbConnection(connStr))
{
conn.Open();
}
We would appreciate any guidance on the correct configuration or required components.
