Only one PDF file does not appear in the File and Media web part on SharePoint.

Hi, I need to help with SharePoint.

The PDF file shared from Teams is not apear on the File and Media Web part.

It had been displayed normally for the past several months, but it suddenly stopped appearing.

The file was shared in Teams, downloaded, and uploaded to SharePoint.

We did not change the promisstion of the site and this file.

I download this file from SharePoint on my local folder, rename it, and upload the same document on Sharepoint again, and it is now displaying correctly.

Why does the same file appear when I just rename it? And why does the original file no longer show up?

What could be the possible cause? I don't have ideas.

    Hello @兼田 琉生(アソシエイツ),

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

I’d like to confirm a few things to help narrow down the cause.

1/ Could you please check whether the “File and Media web part" and the PDF file are located on the same SharePoint site? If they’re on different sites or if the file was moved, the web part may keep an outdated reference and fail to load the file.

2/ Please also try adding a new “File and Media web part" on the page and re‑selecting the same PDF. If the new web part works, that means the issue is specific to the original web part instance rather than the file itself.

3/ For the original PDF, please try creating a new web part and add the original file again to see whether it appears there.

4/ Additionally, test with a different PDF file in the same library. If other PDFs display normally, the original file may have had a corrupted internal reference or metadata issue, which is consistent with known cases where PDF files appear in the library but don’t display in web parts.

Regarding the rename behavior: once you download the file, rename it, and upload it again, SharePoint treats it as a new file. It’s no longer the same item as the original, which explains why the renamed version works while the original one does not.

I hope the information above provides some clarity. If you have any updates, please feel free to leave a comment below.

    Warm regards,
