Azure Virtual Desktop VMs not starting since this morning

Hello, since this morning my Azure AVD Windows VM are not starting. Here is the error message i am receiving:

At lunedì 7 settembre 2026 alle ore 9:15:17 AM CEST, the Azure monitoring system received the following information regarding your Virtual machine: We're sorry, your virtual machine isn't available and it is being redeployed due to an unexpected failure on the host server. Azure has begun the auto-recovery process and is currently starting the virtual machine on a different host.

Can you help me?

Based on the notification, Azure detected an unexpected failure on the physical host infrastructure where the affected VM(s) were running. As part of Azure's platform recovery mechanisms, an automatic recovery process ("service healing") was triggered to redeploy the VM(s) to a healthy host. During this process, virtual machines may be temporarily unavailable until the recovery completes.

Could you please provide the following information for the affected AVD session hosts?

Current status of the VM(s)

Screenshot of the Resource Health blade

Screenshot of Boot Diagnostics if the VM is still unavailable

You can share the screenshots in private chat.

Additionally, please confirm whether the issue is still ongoing or if the session hosts have become available since the Azure auto-recovery event.

Once we receive the above details, we will review the platform health history and VM telemetry and continue the investigation.

Hello @Anusree Nashetty , during the outage I managed to get the VDI working again changing their VM type from Standard_D4ds_v6 to Standard_D4as_v6. After this change, the VM started working normally.

Since that change, the VDI infrastructure did not have any other problems.

I sent you via private message the Resource Health screen of one of the VM that encountered the problem.
