I am experiencing a severe issue where my entire PC’s display refresh rate drops and locks to 1 Hz (1 frame per second). While it happens primarily when running Minecraft (via the Dawn Launcher with modpacks), it has also occurred in other games.
Here are the specific details of the issue:
- The Glitch: When the issue triggers, it does not just lag the game; it locks my entire Windows operating system and monitor to 1 FPS/1 Hz.
- The Temporary Fix: The only way to temporarily restore my PC to normal is by using the Ctrl + Shift + Win + B shortcut to force-restart the graphics driver.
- Context: The issue is heavily triggered right now by playing modded Minecraft on an alternative launcher (Dawn Launcher), but it is a system-wide display adapter failure rather than a simple in-game lag spike.
Because restarting the graphics driver temporarily fixes it, this seems to be a deep issue with the Windows Desktop Window Manager (DWM), display handshake, or the graphics driver itself under load.
Could you please assist me in finding a permanent solution for this driver/refresh rate lock?
Thank you!
