Azure DevOps Search: Indexing Issue After Migration — Results Not Shown in Search Box

Problem description

I am experiencing an issue with my Azure DevOps Services project after migrating it from another tenant. Specifically, when I use the Search box on the Work Items page to find work items, I receive the message: "We are not able to show results because one or more projects in your organization are still being indexed." However, when I perform a work item query, it returns the expected results. The problem persists despite the migration date being several months ago, making a simple indexing delay unlikely.

Environment

Azure DevOps Services; Organization with one single project, migrated friom another tenant; Affected feature: Work Item Search in the Search box on the Work Items page; Migration date: 06/29/2026.

What I've already tried

I have created a test work item with a unique title and confirmed it can be found via query. I have also performed searches with the same text in the Search box, but the message about projects still being indexed continues to appear. I have not performed any browser trace or service status checks, and the initial troubleshooting was limited to testing search and query functionalities.

Current status

Currently, the Search box continues to display the message about projects being indexed, while work item queries return results. I am seeking guidance on how to resolve the indexing issue or confirm if it is a service-side problem that requires escalation.
