Run this and check for “Highlights feed” capability

    Still in PowerShell:

    Get-ItemProperty "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search" | Select-Object *

    Do you see these values?

    • IsDynamicSearchEnabled
    • IsFeedEnabled
    • IsHighlightsChannelAvailable
    • CortanaModelId

If yes, are they set to 0 or empty?

You have to restart Search Host so it reads the new policies

    Run:

    taskkill /f /im SearchHost.exe

Then sign out and sign in, or restart the PC.

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search

Create this key if it does not exist.

    Add these values exactly:

    EnableSearchHighlights REG_DWORD 1

    AllowCloudSearch REG_DWORD 1

    EnableDynamicContentInWSB REG_DWORD 1

Add them with commands (run in admin CMD):

    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search" /v EnableSearchHighlights /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search" /v AllowCloudSearch /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search" /v EnableDynamicContentInWSB /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer

    Create this key if missing.

    DisableSearchBoxSugg REG_DWORD 0

    Add with command:

    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer" /v DisableSearchBoxSuggestions /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Anything on those is set to 0, your HKCU settings will NEVER take effect. Everything should be 1. If you do NOT have admin access, you cannot add or change HKLM values.

Check if a machine policy (HKLM) is overriding your HKCU

Machine-level policies ALWAYS override user policies.

    Run this:

    reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search"

    Also check this key:

    reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer"

If anything here is set to 0, your HKCU settings will NEVER take effect.
