Famille de logiciels de traitement de texte Microsoft pour la création de documents web, d’e-mails et d’impressions.
Hi! Isabelle. Thanks for the details. I'm here to help.
On Android tablets, apps like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint don’t have full write access to files located on external storage (like a USB or hard drive) unless they created the file there themselves. So when you open a file directly from the hard drive:
- It opens and you can edit it.
- But when saving, Office treats it as “read-only” because of Android’s storage security — it won’t overwrite the original.
That’s why you only see options like:
Save to OneDrive (cloud)
Save to "This device" (internal storage)
- Save to "External storage" as a new copy (not overwrite the original)
There's a workaround but will require a manual copy step.
Copy the file to tablet storage first (most reliable)
- Open the My Files app on your Samsung tablet.
Copy the file from your external hard drive to a folder on the tablet (e.g., Documents).
Open and edit it with Word or Excel.
When done, save normally — it will overwrite the file.
(Optional) Copy it back to your external hard drive.
See if this helps. If you need further assistance, just let me know.
Best regards,
Kimberly
